Balaji Maheshwar is a filmmaker and visual artist from Chennai, India. He believes that through his relationship with the outside world, he is able to observe and understand the inner being.
Through his works, he attempts to locate the intersection between the intimate and the collective, where personal narratives become portals to larger, social realities. His photobook dummy 'Dear Cinema', won the Alkazi Photo Book Grant in 2025 and was selected as the finalist for Athens Dummy Award 2026 and got selected for showcase at Singapore International Photo Festival. He completed his second feature When the Clouds Pass in 2026.
