✦ The World & The Self
Set in present-day London, this poetic short unfolds as a direct address to Dr B. R. Ambedkar, the Indian jurist, anti-caste thinker, and political leader whose ideas continue to resonate across generations. Through conversations with his mother about her intercaste marriage and the estrangement that followed, the filmmaker searches for a language of love within social structures that continue to enforce hierarchy.
Grounded in family memory and the London spaces Ambedkar once inhabited, the film traces how the past remains active in the present, through private histories and the enduring, often unnoticed persistence of caste.
